For years now, inspired by the book How Life Moves by McHose and Frank, and some fun workshops with John Stirk, I’ve been playing with evolution as an experience we can explore. Taken all together, this can be one long workshop session: from single-celled organism to walking upright. Indeed, you can return to and play with just one aspect of the evolutionary journey again and again.
For this guided enquiry, I’ve divided that journey into three parts, and this is part 1. I explain the concept, and explore it with you somatically: what might it be like to come into being, first as a single cell, and then as a colony of cells? What might we learn from this experience?
As with most of these guided enquiries, you can listen to this while doing other things, take the recording to your mat and explore it in movement, or lie back and drift in your imagination. It’s up to you.
