Viveka: Finding Solid Ground in a Shifting World
There’s a strange tension many yoga teachers and practitioners are feeling right now.
On one hand, we have more access to information than ever before. On the other, it can feel increasingly difficult to know what’s actually true, trustworthy or meaningful.
Maybe you’ve found yourself questioning things you were once taught with certainty.
Maybe you’ve wanted to better understand the history of yoga, make sense of scientific research, or learn how to navigate the growing noise of misinformation, wellness marketing and AI-generated “expertise.”
Or maybe you simply want to think more clearly, ask better questions, and feel more confident in the way you speak, teach and learn.
This is the heart of Viveka, a new live online course exploring critical thinking, discernment and research skills for yoga teachers and practitioners.
Over five in-depth sessions, we’ll explore:
different ways of knowing
how to assess the quality and rigour of information
what research actually is (and isn’t)
how to read academic texts without overwhelm
the difference between what sounds plausible and what is genuinely evidence-based
how to stay curious without becoming cynical
This isn’t a course about telling you what to think.
It’s about helping you understand why you think what you think.
Together we’ll explore yoga history, science, philosophy and research through a grounded, accessible and discussion-based approach — one that values nuance, curiosity and intellectual humility.
By the end of the course, you’ll feel more confident:
speaking and writing about yoga history and science
evaluating sources and claims critically
testing assumptions and recognising bias
engaging with complex topics without feeling lost or overwhelmed
There will also be an optional opportunity to submit a short essay or presentation topic for personalised feedback after the course concludes.
